KINSMEN CORNWALL LIFT-OFF SEEKING VOLUNTEERS

Spring is in the air, and that means that Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off 2012 is coming up fast! The Festival returns to Lamoureux Park from July 12th to 15th to and Festival Officials are seeking dynamic, motivated volunteers to help with Cornwall’s premiere music and balloon festival.

Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off is a Not-For-Profit Festival and as such requires a force of between 150 and 250 volunteers in order to run successfully. This is an excellent opportunity for all members of our community to come out and help with a great event, make new friends, and see all that goes into putting on a Festival like Lift-Off. Anyone eighteen years or older can help out, but please note that some areas have certain restrictions based on age and physical ability. Bilingualism is not a requirement but is certainly an asset as Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off attracts visitors from all over Eastern Ontario, Quebec and the United States. For our students, volunteering at Lift-Off can count towards the forty hours required for graduation. Volunteering is also an excellent way for new residents of our City to get involved in their community and meet their new neighbours. Whether you are new to Cornwall or new to Canada, everyone is welcome to come out and make this Festival a great success!

Areas that require volunteers and their prerequisites include Beer Tent Sales, 50-50 Ticket Sales, Front Gate Ticket Booth, Band Merchandise Sales, Launch Field Crews, Balloon Chase Crews (valid Passport and Driver’s License required, knowledge of trailers), Drivers, Family Fun Zone (requires valid Police Check), General Setup / Tear down (physical work), Security (requires valid Police Check), and even Back Stage help (where you may just get an opportunity to meet a band).

The Board of Lift-Off appreciates the hard work that all of our volunteers do, and as an added incentive this year, any person who volunteers for a minimum of a four hour shift will be given a pass to the park for that days’ entertainment.

For more information, or to submit your application please contact:

Janette Sullivan or Don Daugherty
Directors of Volunteers
Email:  volunteers@lift-off.ca
