There is only one group who can insure a quick resolution to the NHL lockout.

We are just a couple of days into the NHL and NHLPA labour dispute and there is no resolution in the foreseeable future. Why? Simple. The wrong groups of people are whining about this.

We the fans have shown our displeasure at the four work stoppages that the NHL has gone through over the last 20 years. We make videos, we write blogs, and some fans have bought radio, television and newsprint ads to show their displeasure. But nobody ever listens to the fans. Why? Beacause we aren't the primary source of revenues for owners. T.V. revenue is.

So why haven't CBC, CTV, NBC and ESPN and other networks gotten into a room with the two sides and threaten to drop the sport from their line ups unless something is done quickly. It's not like any other networks are despite to add NHL hockey to their repertoire. In the U.S., pro hockey consistently draws less viewers than the other three major sports and is still not as popular as other non-team sports like pro bowling. What are they waiting for?

If these networks threaten to cancel their contracts with the NHL, you can bet there would be a deal done within 48 hours and the season would be starting on time.
