I wanted to share my thoughts on the departure of Pat Baranowski. The World's Greatest Receptionist.
When I arrived in Cornwall in the Fall of last year, I was not quite sure what to expect from my new employers. Everyone had always spoken well of Corus and I was certainly ready to get down to business. As always though, one never really knows what to expect.
I was able to secure accomodations for the beginning of December but I wasn't sure where I was going to stay for the three plus weeks before that. My family was tucked away in Belleville with my in-laws until the big move, but I didn't want to commute so I was looking for temporary digs. Pat, who was always the first smile you would see in the building, said without hesitation, "You already have a place to stay... with me." Well, I certainly didn't want to put her out of sorts but after accepting her invitation and the first few nights of chatting and getting to know Pat, I quickly realized it was not an imposition at all. I know she was happy to have the company and so was I. And it is that kind of selflessness and generosity that has endeared Pat to Cornwall and SD&G and to all her know her. It only took me a couple of days to see what everyone else already knew. Pat was more than a receptionist, she was "Mum".
Pat. Thank you for opening your home to me, and for welcoming my family to Corus Entertainment and to the beautiful city of Cornwall Ontario. Your kindness will never be forgotten. Enjoy your retirement. You have more than earned it.
P.S. - Our new "World's Greatest Receptionist is Rhonda Simpson and we welcome her to Corus with open arms. Remember Rhonda, you don't have big shoes to fill. Pat is taking her shoes with her and your shoes will fit in her place just fine.
